Just a quick question, anyone use those little pipe screens they make to fit inside your pipe bowl? I understand they help keep the tobacco from entering the stem (not a big problem for me) but do they have any advantages other than that?

I've never used them. I hear their more for the alternative smoker if you get my drift.

I agree with Ray, to the best of my knowledge they are for drug pipes.

Yeah, I think when they say it keeps tobacco out of the stem, they mean it keeps ""tobacco"" out of the stem

Pipe screens are a good idea that just does not work. Been there, tried it, won't try it again. :(

These screens have been around a long time. Before their recent popularity with non-tobacco smoking materials. I believe their original purpose was to be used to overcome 'wet heels' in pipes so that the burning tobacco did not come in direct contact with the residues left behind from previous heavily-cased tobaccos which were more popular to more smokers in days gone by.
