I recently tried Peaches & Cream by Milan Tobacconists as one of my "What the heck, I'll try it and see" blends. This is a ribbon cut Cavendish. The product description was " . . . a fruit flavored tobacco that actually tastes like it smells." I would probably change that to "a fruit flavored tobacco that tastes like its name."
P&C is very mild, and does taste like peaches and cream (or vanilla, I suppose). The trouble is it's one of those flavors that sort of loses its interest the more you smoke it. You start off with "hmm, very pleasant" but after about five minutes or so you start getting tired of it, pretty soon you just want to knock it out and get something else. This is not a complaint about Milan (I like most of their blends, especially their Sunset Rum); it's exactly what they say it is and it's a quality blend, but it's just not for me. I like aromatics, but I like a "hint" of flavor, not tobacco that tastes like something else; which is also why I usually stay away from those with much vanilla as it's really easy to overpower the tobacco taste. I suspect the 1 oz. of P&C I got will last me until the end of the year (or beyond). I will probably also only smoke half a bowl at a time when I do smoke it. This might be a good blend if you wanted something different just for a change, especially if your last pipe was one of those tongue bitters. [I just realized I might have posted this in the wrong forum. I knew there was a Tobacco Review forum, but just wasn't thinking. Apologies.] Last edited by alleycat; 05-29-2010 at 04:06 PM. |
